Hi all,
I just upgrade to the new kde3.1.4.
After this i did a 'etc-update' and i clearly screw something with kdm.
when i log on kdm and choose kde, i only have a blank window with a xterm open.
I can only log into kde by typing /usr/kde/3.1/bin/startkde in the xterm.
How can i fix kdm ??
thanks |

Hmm, so this is not a problem only with the kde cvs. I have exactly the same problem, but I run KDE CVS HEAD. Few days ago it worked without problems. Yesterday I updated kdebase and thought that it broke kdm. |

I believe this is a problem with kdm 3.1.4's Xwilling, Xaccess, etc. Unless you specifically tell it to use X's version, it defaults to the ones in /usr/kde/3.1/share/config/kdm/
edit /usr/kde/3.1/share/config/kdm/kdmrc and tell kdm where the Xservers, Xwilling, etc are
Here is a sample kdmrc:
[General]
ConfigVersion=2.0
PidFile=/var/run/xdm-pid
Xservers=/etc/X11/xdm/Xservers

thanks for your answer.
i find a solution.
I remove the kdm config file and re-emerge kdebase.
Works now. |
