Toshiba Satellite 1905 problams.

Ok I have gentoo installed and the os its self is rocking. The problam lies in sound and video. Every few starts of x it looks like static even when I exit back to a console. I also can not seem to get sound to work. In windows it says crystal sound fusion but with that in the kernel I do not get sound. ANy ideas? thanks for all the help.

I noticed in a lot of Toshiba laptops (especially the newer models) that when you enter/exit X-Windows you can see a garbled version of the last screen it showed (not only with Gentoo but with other distros as well, and XFree86 4.2 seems to do this also on older models). It does not seem to pose a problem though unless this "screenshot" shows some sensitive information :wink:

So if you exit and it shows this, and then you come back to your normal tty, then I think you don't have to worry about this! However, if the screen stays garbled, I saw this when the wrong (but similar) driver was selected or when a bad bit-depth (?) was configured (for exemple millions of colors when you can only do 65k, etc.), so it's probably just not exactly the right config. Unfortunately I don't this specific model so I can't say.

Take a look at http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/toshiba.html for similar models maybe? I didn't see the 1905 there (only 1805-xxxx).
