Since I use thunderbird, I wanna mask kmail. But I also wanna have kdepim-meta package installed. Masking kmail prevents kdepim-meta installation since kmail is a dependency.

So is there a way to do this?

Don't use kdepim-meta then, anything else would be a dirty hack.

Choose any of those packages you wish to have except kmail and record them into your world file or, in case you are using portage-2.2, create your custom set for kdepim:

Code:

In kdepim set you can comment out kmail

Why installing kdepim-meta then? kmail is just the gui. IMAP, POP3, Mail-Sending, ... is not done by kmail, those come with kdepim-runtime, which comes with many other components for calendars, addressbooks, microblogging, and so on.
So you need to find a way to not build/install resources for mailing in kdepim-runtime - good luck :P

kdepim-meta really does not contain that much packages. Just chose the ones you want and be happy. Or live with the 2-3 minutes kmail needs to build...

So it's not gonna be as easy as just removing kmail and doing a depclean? Well, then I'll just let them be, unless if you can tell me where to start.
