|
|
Hi,
I'm trying to install gentoo into a ibm ppc64 lpar (logical partition).
As I can see there is only one stage3 tarball for both 32 and 64bit.
Now as I unpacked it there is no purebred 64bit profile any more:
Code: | (chroot) livecd / # eselect profile list
Available profile symlink targets:
[1] default/linux/powerpc/ppc32/10.0 *
[2] default/linux/powerpc/ppc32/10.0/desktop
[3] default/linux/powerpc/ppc32/10.0/desktop/gnome
[4] default/linux/powerpc/ppc32/10.0/desktop/kde
[5] default/linux/powerpc/ppc32/10.0/developer
[6] default/linux/powerpc/ppc32/10.0/server
[7] default/linux/powerpc/ppc64/10.0/32bit-userland
[8] default/linux/powerpc/ppc64/10.0/32bit-userland/desktop
[9] default/linux/powerpc/ppc64/10.0/32bit-userland/desktop/gnome
[10] default/linux/powerpc/ppc64/10.0/32bit-userland/desktop/kde
[11] default/linux/powerpc/ppc64/10.0/32bit-userland/developer
[12] default/linux/powerpc/ppc64/10.0/32bit-userland/server
[13] hardened/linux/powerpc/ppc32
[14] hardened/linux/powerpc/ppc64/32bit-userland
(chroot) livecd / # |
But on an old machine with an old system I found one:
Code: | eselect profile list
Available profile symlink targets:
[1] default-linux/ppc/ppc64/2006.1/64bit-userland *
[2] hardened/ppc64 |
Ok, since then a lot of things changed but going backwards from 64 to 32bit?
Is there any chance to get a pure 64bit system? _________________ Gruß / Regards

not sure what is going on, ive never used ppc64.
I see in the mirrors that there apparently are some 64ul stages available ( at least according to the name ) and the documentation clearly states that both ul are supported.
could it be that you just picked the wrong stage ?
hope this helps.

Sorry, seems like I picked the one local mirror without the ppc64 stage.
But at the moment I'm not able to find this one again.
Now it seems every mirror I take a look at has the right stage.
Maybe I got up that morning using the wrong foot
But thank you very much for helping! _________________ Gruß / Regards
