I was installing a Xorg-server on a newly installed Gentoo inside Virtualbox,and it failed when installing the "llvm", here is the ending page of the Error Massage(from "build.log"):
Code:
llvm[1]: Compiling LLVMContextImpl.cpp for Release build
if i686-pc-linux-gnu-g++ -I/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/llvm-2.9-r2/work/llvm-2.9/include -I/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/llvm-2.9-r2/work/llvm-2.9/lib/VMCore  -DNDEBUG -D_GNU_SOURCE -D__STDC_LIMIT_MACROS -D__STDC_CONSTANT_MACROS   -fno-exceptions -fPIC -Woverloaded-virtual -Wcast-qual -O2 -march=i686 -pipe  -I/usr/lib/libffi-3.0.10/include    -pedantic -Wno-long-long -Wall -W -Wno-unused-parameter -Wwrite-strings  -c -MMD -MP -MF "/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/llvm-2.9-r2/work/llvm-2.9/lib/VMCore/Release/LLVMContextImpl.d.tmp" -MT "/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/llvm-2.9-r2/work/llvm-2.9/lib/VMCore/Release/LLVMContextImpl.o" -MT "/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/llvm-2.9-r2/work/llvm-2.9/lib/VMCore/Release/LLVMContextImpl.d" LLVMContextImpl.cpp -o /var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/llvm-2.9-r2/work/llvm-2.9/lib/VMCore/Release/LLVMContextImpl.o ; \

And according to this https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-900820.html ,I tried "emerge -pqv llvm" and here is the output:
Code:
[ebuild  N    ] sys-devel/llvm-2.9-r2  USE="libffi -debug -llvm-gcc -multitarget -ocaml -test -udis86 -vim-syntax"

Should I change the USE variable?
I'm a new user of linux, can someone give me a detail answer? Any hints are appreciated, Thanks!

Given that it happened inside a Virtualbox and it was an assembler failure, you most likely either chose wrong CFLAGS or set up Virtualbox for the wrong processor.

Emmm,I'm using 2 cores in the Virtualbox,does it matter?
Here is the CFLAGS settings, also CXXFLAGS. I think it looks OK..
Code:
CFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686 -pipe"
CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686 -pipe"
