FYI, I lately started playing, or at least atempting to, MineCraft on my dual boot Win7/Gentoo box. Under Windows it runs fine, however under Gentoo the main menu animation was slow and choppy. After a very short time in-game, less than a minute, I would get something very similar to the following.
Code: | # A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x00007f7f0c4691b1, pid=14582, tid=140183693674240

# JRE version: 6.0_29-b11
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (20.4-b02 mixed mode linux-amd64 co
mpressed oops)
# Problematic frame:
# C [r600_dri.so+0x1221b1] _init+0xf73c1 |
After doing some searching, I found this thread that gave me a clue. In the end the problem was with mesa and switching my card to used the gallium driver.
Code: | # eselect mesa list
