|
|
I recently switched to Chrome after becoming frustrated with Firefox's constant 'pausing'.
One thing that bugs me in Chrome, however, is if I Right Click a link to save it's contents (a podcast episode), it 'always' says 'interrupted' and I am unable to download the episode.
I have to start up firefox to do the download.
I am using Chromium 16 on amd64 Gentoo.
I only use flashblock, adblock, Right Click Opens Link in New Foreground Tab and Ultimate Google Docs Viewer.
I tried disabling all addons, no change.
Any suggestions? _________________ ...Lyall

Hmm, generally I found it was a problem download Scot Siggler's podcasts via google reader subscription.
The problem doesn't seem to be happening at this time. You know how it is, trying to show a problem and the problem goes away.
I will report back if I have it happening again. _________________ ...Lyall |

Right click to download the MineCraft WorldEdit Command Quick Reference PDF (scroll down a little).
The file is downloaded, it just has the .crdownload suffix after 'interrupting' the download.
Installed plugins are- AdBlock 2.5.13
- FlashBlock 0.9.31
- Force Background Tab 1.1
- IPv6 1.7.1
- Right Click Opens Link in New Foreground Tab 1.5.13
- Ultimate Google Docs Viewer 0.8.4.7
I must admit, I prefer firefox plugins, but the pausing I experience just annoys me so much that I put up with chrome. _________________ ...Lyall |

Another example, attempting to download Scott Sigler's All-Pro episode.
Right click for about a second to override the 'right click to background tab', then right click and save as.
16mb of 44.8 downloaded, Interrupted. _________________ ...Lyall |

Try with a more recent "unstable" one like 17.x or 18.x. The download system is frequently broken. _________________ http://phajdan-jr.blogspot.com/ |

Tested on chromium-18.0.1010.0 without issues.
I had these interrupteds aswell a while back, but can't remember if it was because of a bad chromium version or folder permission issues. |

Currently running 16.0.912.75 (Developer Build 0 Linux).
Another example of download failure is at a Minecraft Multiverse download page, left click the 'Download' link at the top right.
I will try moving to ~amd64 for Chromium (which will take me to 18.0.1010.0), to see how that goes.
Edit: Not permission problems, I start Firefox and download no problems. _________________ ...Lyall |

Ok, 18 is masked, but I moved forward to 17, which now works.
As an aside, I received a few kworker memory allocation errors during the link phase of Chromium.
The link phase is HUGE.
My machine has 8G of memory and 8G of swap, of which, typically, 4G is available (I have a minecraft server runnning).
I did not run out of swap, in fact, only less than a quarter of it was used, but I experienced severe response time degradation and the kworker errors in my system log. _________________ ...Lyall |
