Hi, I was just looking at output of:
Code: |
lspci -v -s 01:00.0
|
it says:
Code: |
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon HD 3870 (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: ATI Technologies Inc Device 2542
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 47
Memory at e0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
Memory at f5000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]
I/O ports at b000 [size=256]
[virtual] Expansion ROM at f4000000 [disabled] [size=128K]
Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: fglrx_pci
Kernel modules: fglrx
|
1.My graphics ccard is supposed to have 512M but it says only 256M.
2.I am using 32b gentoo and it says 64-bit.
3.Is there any command (like htop) that would show graphics card usage and VRAM instead?
Can anyone make these clear to me?
Thanx |

- there are types of cards that come in more than one memory capacity, my ATI3650 is the same, there is one of 256MB and 512MB, you'll need to check the box of the card to see what was sold to you. you can try either dmesg or Xorg.log
- you're wrong, the card has small like memory cells called registers, each one of them is 64 bit long, that is by no means even remotely implicates what bit level of os you are using.
- not that I know of as the memory on you gpu is not like the memory of your computer, no one can access that card's memory without getting permissions from the driver and I don't this the drivers allow its, afaik, the driver manages it.

256MB is the PCI BAR limit, check dmesg/Xorg.log to see all the VRAM. _________________ http://wojia.be |
