I don't know if this is the correct place to post but anyway: There is a digest problem with the font-arial-iso-8859-1.tar.bz2 file:

Code:

# rm /usr/portage/distfiles/font-arial-iso-8859-1.tar.bz2
# emerge sync
# emerge mplayer
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre1 to /
>>> Downloading http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu/distfiles/font-arial-iso-8859-1.tar.bz2
--17:14:11--  http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu/distfiles/font-arial-iso-8859-1.tar.bz2
           => `/usr/portage/distfiles/font-arial-iso-8859-1.tar.bz2'
Auflösen des Hostnamen »gentoo.oregonstate.edu«.... fertig.
Verbindungsaufbau zu gentoo.oregonstate.edu[128.193.0.3]:80... verbunden.

It may have been corrupted during transfer. Delete the file and try again. You may have to resync or try another mirror.

Code:
emerge -f mplayer

before trying to merge mplayer.
This is a workaround for the actual problem whose solution i can't remember right now ;)

Ah, thanks, it has worked for me this way.

Actually, there seems to be a confusion about font-arial-iso-8859-1.tar.bz2 and font-arial-iso-8859-2.tar.bz2. The md5 digest where portage thinks it must match font-arial-iso-8859-1.tar.bz2 actually matches font-arial-iso-8859-2.tar.bz2.

Code:
rm /usr/portage/media-video/mplayer/files/digest-mplayer-0.92
emerge mplayer

Portage will complain at this step.
Code:
ebuild /usr/portage/media-video/mplayer/mplayer-0.92.ebuild digest
emerge mplayer

This works for mplayer-1.0_pre1 also. However, i had to use...
Code:
rm /usr/portage/media-video/mplayer/files/digest-mplayer-1.0_pre1
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -u mplayer
ebuild /usr/portage/media-video/mplayer/mplayer-1.0_pre1 digest
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -u mplayer

Well, the real problem is that the mplayer peeps are uploading newer tarballs with the same name, so everytime they upgrade something, the digest won't match the current md5sum.

we should make snapshot ebuilds or something.
