Hi,

Does anyone know how to change default device names for removable drives when they appear in KDE's device notifier? I have a removable drive with 3 partitions, so when it is connected, I see device notifications in KDE which say something like "Removable Disk", "NTFS_External" and "disk1". While I can recall which devices refer to which partitions (they are fat32, ntfs, and ext3), the rest of my family will have no clue, and it's also inconvenient. Ideally, I would like to have control over the names of these devices in the device notifier, for example "Removable Disk 1 (fat32)", etc, based on some configuration, such as that with udev.

Now, I've played with udev and fstab, and I can control (a) creation of the custom device names and (b) mount points for these devices. So at least when "Removable Disk" is mounted via clicking in the device notifier, it is mounted where I want it.

However, I do not know how to control device names in the KDE device notifier. Any ideas on how I might go about that?

Thanks a lot,
Aleksey
