Has anybody experienced this issue and found a solution? I just did a sync with the portage tree today, and when running "emerge -Nu world" it fails with this error:

| I have now tried many times "later" (emerge --sync and emerge -Nu) and it still doesn't work. Any other ideas? |

| I have exactly the same issue as of today. I synced from 4 different servers without success. I'm still getting the "Filesize does not match recorded size" message. |

Had exactly the same problem for over a week (maybe 2?). Changed my GENTOO_MIRRORS in /etc/make.conf from "http://gentoo.chem.wisc.edu/gentoo" to "ftp://mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/gentoo-distfiles/"
Problem solved. Thanks everyone. It's always easier to fix a problem when you know someone else has it too.

I just can't get emerge to update this package (dev-python/setuptools-0.6.21).
- I uncommented my SYNC var and let the rotation decide
- I synced from 6 or 7 completely different servers
- I deleted /usr/portage/* and /var/tmp/portage/*
No way, I'm still getting this:

EDIT: problem solved, I had GENTOO_MIRRORS set to "http://de-mirror.org" (since I'm located in germany), which permanently provided servers with outdated files (several days old) |

I too have the same problem and it's been here for quite a while (say 3-4 weeks) but I'm using a fresh mirror.
According to http://mirrorstats.gentoo.org, gentoo.mirrors.tds.net, the mirror which I'm using is up to date but I'm still having problems downloading.
I'm also using

for synchronization.
In case anyone is interested, here's: http://pastebin.com/L1AVMdf0 the output of emerge. It seems to try to download the file from http://pypi.python.org and the file there is 400092 bytes long.
Anyway I solved the problem.
