Post the output of
Code:
ls /var/log
please. Hint: don't type it. Use wgetpaste to send it to the web, retrieve it, and post it here. Like this
Code:
ls /var/log | wgetpaste
Don't just post the URL as those go away after a short time and then the value of this thread will diminish. When you post it, code tags would be nice as well.

Use the minimal install CD to get back into a chrooted environment, then
Code:
cd /usr/src/linux
make menuconfug
and then under
Code:
Device Drivers  --->
  Graphics support  --->
    Support for frame buffer devices  --->
tell us what's checked either as built-in <*> or built as a module <M>.

The problem seems to be that the radeon driver does not correctly detect/initialize the display outputs. There have been some bugs reported such as https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27314

You can see if the problem still exists with the latest 3.1_rc kernel, failing that drm-next from git: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~airlied/linux/log/?h=drm-next
