I have moved my hard disk from GM45 platform to another PC which is QM67 platform. and the graphic is CPU integrited. When I try to start X by using GDM or Xstart, the hole system hangs. The kernel is rebuilded.

I have rebuild xf86-video-intel and mesa, but it doesn't help.

What need I do with the system if I updated the chipset platform.

Code:
homeserver ~ # rc-update show
                acpid |      default
            alsasound |      default
              apache2 |      default

It could be helpful if you could give us some information on the errors. Maybe the output of the command 'lspci | grep VGA' and what is the error in /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Cheers!

I deleted all the old X logs, and there is no logs generated, neither startx nor gdm, before the system hangs.
Also I emerged xface4, it has the same being.

But it must be something intel driver related. I use a PCIE graphic card instead, and it works fine.

The VGA controller is intel I7 integrated.
driver:
libdrm 2.4.26
mesa-7.11
xf86-video-intel-2.16.0

Code:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Device 0116 (rev 09)

The issue is resolved.

When I run revdep-rebuild, there are notes for package xf86-video-intel, say that the files are conflict, and can't determine the file owners. So I remove these files and re-emerge the driver.

Code:

/usr/lib64/libI810XvMC.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib64/libIntelXvMC.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so /usr/share/man/man4/intel.4.bz2 /usr/share/doc/xf86-video-intel-2.16.0/ChangeLog.bz2 /usr/lib64/libIntelXvMC.so.1 /usr/lib64/libI810XvMC.so.1 /usr/lib64/libIntelXvMC.so /usr/lib64/libI810XvMC.so
