I'm trying to figure out how to have a password prompt appear ANYTIME I try to access something that requires it. I have kdesudo installed, and the prompt appears for some things, but not everything. I'm hoping someone can help me solve this.

For example, if I'm browsing through files with Dolphin while logged in as my day-to-day user, if I try to look at files in /root it will simply say "Could not enter folder /root". I'm wondering if there is a way to have a password prompt appear automatically. Right now my solution is to open a terminal and input
Code:
$ kdesudo dolphin
This then gives me a prompt and works as desired. So is there a way to make this occur automatically?

It seems to me what you want is that any time anything fails due to inadequate permissions, it should try again using sudo. Maybe somebody else does, but I don't know of any way to do this. Until it fails, it doesn't know it needs more privs, and (as far as I know) Dolphin (most programs, probably) doesn't have a way to escalate privs. Explicitly running sudo changes the effective ID before running the program, so the program doesn't know you actually aren't root.
