Hi everyone,
Installed Gentoo on a couple of Intel x86 machines before, but this is my first time trying a PPC install. Everything goes fine except that when I go to
cd /usr/src/linux
so I can make menuconfig
it tells me:
livecd / # cd /usr/src/linux
bash: cd: /usr/src/linux: No such file or directory
Any ideas where I could have gone wrong so early in the install phase?
Thanks in advance! |

Yep. You missed a step.
The Handbook has you install kernel sources, typically gentoo-sources. Until you emerge that, you won't have that directory.
Actually, upon further observation, you may have missed several steps. Are you in a chrooted environment yet? Could you tell me exactly what step you're on in the Handbook?

I think I found the issue- I was working off of a x86 guide (like an idiot) and missed a few "subtle" differences such as:
emerge gentoo-sources
wow, feel pretty dumb now. Thanks! |
