I have a thinkpad x300 which has many levels of possible
brightness (0 to 15 in /sys..etc..brightness)

since upgrading to kde 4.7.0 the brightness control
suddenly has lost sensitivity -- it now jumps 2 or 3 levels
with one button push

this seems retrograde to me

does anyone know where/how kde sets this parameter?

sorry to reply to myself but in case anyone else is as
clueless as me -

If you go the global keyboard shortcuts in systemsetting -
shortcuts and gestures you can just turn off the kde
control of screen brightness

then my computer operates again *THE WAY IT WAS
DESIGNED TO* - with many levels of brightness finely
controlled
