Hi,

I have the following:

Dell U2211H and a Dell P2210H connected to a single graphics card (ATi).

I'm using the open source "radeon" driver and firmware with gnome.

I can't seem to get any of the DPMS off, standby or suspend modes to work - they just blank the screen and the backlights remain on (power led on monitor remains blue (on) rather than orange (standby)).

I've tested all three modes with xset but to no avail.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Cheers.

Well,

Code:
vbetool dpms off

works as expected but:

Code:
xset dpms force off

just blanks the screen :S...

I've had these exact same monitors work fine with the old gentoo system I had which used an nVidia (and the closed nvidia driver) card.

When I do an xset dpms force off, the screen just blanks and the monitor displays a message "Entering power save mode" over and over , but it never actually gets there...

xset -q shows this odd state:

Code:

......
......
......
DPMS (Energy Star):
  Standby: 0    Suspend: 0    Off: 0
  DPMS is Enabled
  Monitor is On

So that implies to me that DPMS is enabled but none of the states are supported? How can that be?
