Hi,
I'm using fluxbox and emerged a couple of kde apps (not the whole base) that I like (krusader, amarok, k3b).
Problem is that all those apps are missing some icons (not all).
I have kde-base/oxygen-icons installed, I also followed this wiki to set the theme but without luck.

Strange thing is that if I kdesu, the icons are there, which sounds like a permission issue.
But I checked under /usr/share everything is drwxr-xr-x for root:root

This is a fresh install.

Code:

$ emerge --info

There is a menu update tool under Applications->System settings->Menu Update Tool if I remember correctly. Not to be confused with System Settings (The KDE equivalent of Windoze control panel). I'm not at my machine at the moment so I can't direct you any further than this.

Thanks bugfarmer, but as I wrote, I don't have kde-base installed, only specific applications since I'm on fluxbox.

So, I don't have the usual Applications menu as you do on your kde system :(

Another strange thing that I just noticed is that if I mouseover Edit->select all in krusader for example, the icon appears as long as I have the mouse over it!!! If I move it away it disappears!!!

Thanks.

A bit draconian but do a revdep-rebuild to ensure that all the linkages are correct.

revdep-rebuild only returned this:
Code:

 * Collecting system binaries and libraries
 * Generated new 1_files.rr
 * Collecting complete LD_LIBRARY_PATH
 * Generated new 2_ldpath.rr
 * Checking dynamic linking consistency
[ 74% ]  *   broken /usr/lib64/libstartup-notification-1.so.0.0.0 (requires libxcb-atom.so.1
libxcb-aux.so.0)
[ 100% ]
 * Generated new 3_broken.rr
 * Assigning files to packages
 *   /usr/lib64/libstartup-notification-1.so.0.0.0 -> x11-libs/startup-notification

which didn't change anything.

Thanks though.

Solved it!
I had to rm /var/tmp cache for my user.
Thanks!

Old post but removing /var/tmp/kdecache-<user> and reboot worked for me.

FYI: I did not have KDE running when i removed the cache folder.
