Hi all
today it's silly question time :)

i got 2 different "problem" with calculator. Yep, the simple easy tool to make mathematical expressions :)

1) on my eeepc i installed a gentoo with fluxbox as a DE and rox as a WM
i got no real calculator, even 'cause i got no gtk nor complex graphical environment. When i need to make quick calc, i open a shell, run python and then use it like a calculator
there is a nice and cool calculator (similar to gcalctool from gnome package, or speedcrunch) i could use with fluxbox? even an x gui for python based calc would be useful...

2) on my "bigger" laptop, i got gnome with gcalctool
my laptop keyboard is a very little one where num pad is "shared" with other keys (you know, you need to press Fn key to activate numpad and then press again to deactivate)
in previous installation, gcalctool automatically detected numpad as "on" while other apps (like openoffice writer) detected the numpad "off", so i could write without problem then switch to gcalc to do some calculation and then again alt+tab in writer to write something

now, after upgrade, it does'nt work anymore; gcalctool doesn't read numpad as "on" so i need to press "bloc num" to activate it, then deactivating again while alt+tab ing in writer

there is a way to overcome this problem and let gcalctool alway read numpad as on?
or another calculator tool (speedcrunch? galculator? others?) who could do the trick?

ok ok, it's a silly question...
just, sometime you need also silly things :)

First of all, Fluxbox is a WM and Rox is a file manager. Gnome is a DE.

I suggest xcalc. It's simple and has a straightforward interface.

Actually, you can have rox as a WM, but not fluxbox and rox both at the same time ;)
