EDIT: I spoke to soon. Emerging upower 0.9.9 and rebooting resolved my issue.
I've been using gnome-power-manager to control suspending to RAM on lid close for my laptop (Lenovo T400) for a while, but recently I noticed it was failing to do so. I'm not quite sure the cause, though I do suspect upower to be related. I haven't filed a bug yet in case it's a config issue, and I don't know when the problem started. When I try to run gnome-power-manager manually form the console I see the following:
<<<<<
