>>> Working in BUILD_DIR: "/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/system-config-printer-kde-4.6.2/work/system-config-printer-kde-4.6.2_build"
make -j3 DESTDIR=/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/system-config-printer-kde-4.6.2/image/ install

I figured out the problem you have to do python-updater as root to rebuild everything against python 2.7.

I think I already did it once I was installing python 2.7. BTW I have two slotted installation of python 2.7 and 3.1.

For nipplicious, it was app-admin/system-config-printer-common that was not installed fr python 2.7.

For phoenix_me...Hard to tell, only meaningless portage message was provided.

@przemoL: that thread you've found is about different problem - yours is most likely the usual sip upgrade problem, as per postinst note.

I have been using a 3.0 rc kernel, and like some others, nothing worked.
I can confirm that for me,
compiling and booting into 2.6.39-r3 and then running
Code:

# emerge -1 =python-2.7.2
...

# emerge -1 sip PyQt4 pykde4 system-config-printer-kde

finally fixed it for me.
