I ran world upgrade. I think baselayout upgrade was included. I can't remember if i did conf update after that. Only errors while booting are:
start-stop-daemon couldn't make valid kdm.pid file.
display manager failed to start.
and warning about start/stop_local changing location.
Could baselayout upgrade be related to my problem with starting kde or something else is broken?
Sry if what I just wrote doesn't make sense.
EDIT:OK, I managed to found out that not having nvidia-drivers 270.30 wasn't helping. Now I have nice, not responsive, kde login screen.

Is something keeping that version out of portage? Even Sunrise overlay, I'm annoyed that people have known that version is required for some time and it still isn't in-tree. |

I managed to revive it. Still getting some errors while booting but everything seems to work now.
For anyone else with the same problem:
Upgrading nvidia-drivers to 270.30 makes kde work.
Reinstalling x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev makes keyboard/mouse work. _________________ This is linux land. In quiet nights, you can hear the windows machines reboot. |
