Something is obviously broken. You might need to check your filesystem for problems.
Then re-emerge layman and re-test. _________________ Brian

Code: | emerge -1v python-exec |
and don't use pip/easy_install if you don't want your system broken. |

Musicbrainz uses pip as part of the install, also another piece of software i need uses cymysql and thats installed by pip aswell.
Whats the correct procedure to not use pip in those cases? |

Preferably, install them using your user (in your homedir):
Code: | pip install --user ... |
Then it won't collide with package manager, and it should work out-of-the-box for your user. |

I can use the layman, But there is another problem.
When I emerge layman, there is some notice message
Code: |
>>> Installing (1 of 1) app-portage/layman-2.0.0
* QA Notice: Symbolic link /usr/bin/layman-updater points to /usr/bin/python-exec which does not exist.
* QA Notice: Symbolic link /usr/bin/layman points to /usr/bin/python-exec which does not exist.
* Running layman-updater...
/var/tmp/portage/app-portage/layman-2.0.0/temp/environment: line 2916: //usr/bin/layman-updater: No such file or directory
*
|
I lose some symbolic link, After emerging layman I can not find layman-updater and layman command, there is only
Code: |
nextzone ~ # layman-
layman-python2.7 layman-updater-python2.7
|
I do not know why. Re-merging layman can not solve the problem.
Thank you for your time.... |

Just because I don not have the python-exec file
I emerge -C python-exec
Then emerge it by "emerge -1 python-exec", I get the python-exec file, then all thing all right. |
