|
|
It seems that after updating to firefox4 and rebuilding my system, thunderbird won't start. I did emerge --emptytree thunderbird, still no go. Starting thunderbird from the command line (/usr/lib64/thunderbird/thunderbird-bin) gives me this error
./thunderbird-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libxpcom_core.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I also had tried reverting to the previous version of xulrunner but still no go. Any clues anyone? _________________ Billy DeVincentis |

| What does 'emerge -pv thunderbird' show? (Or 'emerge -pv thunderbird-bin' if you're using the prebuilt one) |

Just tried the prebuilt thunderbird-bin. It works with no problems but I really prefer the other. _________________ Billy DeVincentis |

| Have you tried revdep-rebuild? I had various failures after upgrading to Firefox 4, one of which was firefox itself being "unable to load XPCOM". I ran revdep-rebuild which decided that XULRunner needed to be upgraded from 1.9 to 2.0. After that, I re-emerged Firefox and Thunderbird; problem solved. |

I have the same problem and would like to avoid a complete rebuild. Suggestions?
revdep-rebuild shows nothing wrong at all because the file libxpcom_core.so exists but no in the expected folder. |

are you still able to reproduce this with thunderbird-3.3_alpha3-r2? |

I hadn't heard about the sandy bridge problem before but adding -mno-avx to my buildflags fixed it so it was that problem.
Thanks. |
