I have been trying to get draftsight working on gentoo for some time now. I am currently using the betagarden overlay which refers to an older version which is no longer avialable. I'm still pretty new to modifying ebuilds. Actually really new, the script looks simple enough but I've never successfully done it.
The discussion that got me up and running with betagarden was here
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7609362.html#7609362
the download page is here:
http://www.3ds.com/products-services/draftsight/download-draftsight/
I have downloaded the newest version and put it in /usr/portage/distfiles. it's just called draftSight.deb
What do I have to modify in the ebuild to
1. look for a file simpily called draftSight.deb
2. accept the newer version.
Thanks |

Finally after hours and hours of playing around I figured out how to update an ebuild. It was of course easy, but I've never messed with ebuilds before. Here is what I did.
Download the current version and put it in the /usr/portage/distfiles directory. You will have to rename the file to the format "draftsight-<version>_beta.deb"
Open the most recent ebuild with root privlidges and save as a new file with the updated version information.
run the command
Code: |
ebuild <path to new ebuild > digest
|
to update the hashes.
it should now emerge without incedent. |

I did more than search. I was posting in those topic's you listed. Totally different topic. The only thing in common was the word draftsight
The link you posted was discussing overlays which would work for draftsight. This post was me trying to determine who to create a new ebuild for a new version. See the difference?
In the future I would recommend that you actually read the post's yourself before repromanding anyone. Perhaps you should use the search feature a little more carefully. |
