hello,

i'm trying the new (not final) gnome 3 from the overlay. it works fine.

but i'm missing some parts in the gnome-control-center. there is no possibility to change fonts, themes, colors etc.
i've read, there must be an appearance panel, but not for me.

do have anyone a clue?

Regards, Denny Reeh

Hey,

Have you tried running gnome-control-center in terminal? If yes, maybe one packages got an error during install / Try to re-emerge gnome-2.91.0. If this also doesn't help, it's a bug -> Please post and share it at https://bugs.gentoo.org.

Have a great day,

Thank you for your answere.

No, there are no error messages in the terminal. There are also no problems found by revdep-rebuild.

Hello,

I am also experiencing the same thing.
I would like to change the window-manager theme. Where do I find the configuration file to do i manually?
Or have you found any solution/workaround to do it from gnome-control-center?

Thanks in advance
Niklas

May be the horrible gnome team and it's fanboys removed it from shell.

Well, that's what Gnome is coming to, they'll loose all sponsors after this piecea crap comes out. Future of Linux Desktop is KDE.

Well... Except that the future of Qt is also disputable. See this thread for more details: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-866209.html

And my opinion is, that XFCE 4.* will be the "new" gnome 2.x. ;-)

So let's look into the future & hope that Nokia isn't going to drop Qt, Gnome 3 should become more advanced user friendly (Users should have the ability to change the suspend option etc.) and last but not least should XFCE become a "fixed release schedule" DE. Although a Rolling Release DE is also a good idea.

Best wishes,
