does your machine have a touchpad? quite sure it does. edit /etc/make.conf to include INPUT_DEVICES="evdev synaptics" Code: | emerge -av xorg-server $(qlist -IC x11-drivers) |
If x11-drivers/xf86-input-synaptics was not emerged:
Code: | eselect opengl set ati
aticonfig |
Try another place
Code: | tail -200 /var/log/Xorg.0.log | wgetpaste |

My personal preference is xf86-video-ati, but it's your choice.
As I mentioned in a few threads, naive greps of xorg log are unhelpful.
But even without the needed data, I could make a guess: conf snippet installed with synaptics needs 'event*' path filter. |

emerge the world for the last 30 something hours. It's all fixed now.
The system is still left with a small inconsistency in emerging mysql, but it's really nothing I care.
Thanks for all the help! |
