Hey all!

I've been trying for the last few days to try and track down this problem on my own, but I've exhaused my resources here. First some backround.

I went ahead and install kde 3.1alpha pretty much as soon as it was released (tabbed konq is soooo sweet), and had no problems. However, a few days later I was simply browsing the web and konq crashed. So I went ahead and tried to restart konq and it segfaulted immediately and has ever since. The oddest thing is that I can use konq for file browsing/mangement, but as soon as I either change to the "webbrowsing" profile or just try to view a web page it crashes. This also includes viewing local .html files.

My first thought was that the crash hosed some of my local settings so I tried running konq as root, and moved my .kde* dirs out of the way. I have also tried removing kdelibs and kdebase and re-installind. Still no luck.

Here's a copy of the backtrace from this glitch. Hopefully some of you programers can make a little more outta this one than I....

Thanks!

I doubt anyone is going to make sense of that noise...

remember that kde 3.1alpha isn't meant to be stable, and/or reliable. it's more than likely not gentoo's fault, and you should be posting to the kde-users mailing list, and/.or dev.

its a bug, you need to let the developers of kde know so they can squash it before kde 3.1 is released.

cheers!

Please, report it in the KDE3 mailing lists.

See here http://www.kde.org/mailinglists.html

I have dug around on the kde mailing lists with no results, so it seemed just as likely to be a gentoo glitch... It's just very odd for it to work flawlessly for a couple of days, then stop working for no apparent reason.

I had same problems(konq crashing a lot) when i first installed kde3.1alpha. then i removed all kde stuff and even deleted /usr/kde/ dir (ok this was too much).

Now i have no konq crashes and i use it whole day.
