Hi All,
I was trying for hours last night to get the gentoo minimal cd to boot on my new laptop, ACER 5736z
But everytime i try and boot the cd i just get a blackscreen or if i boot -nofb then it gets to "loading kernel" and hangs.
So far I've tried :
ia64 minimal cd
x86 minimal cd
x86 minimal -> USB
noacpi, nodetect to no avail !!
bios settings : HD mode from sata to ide
Was wondering if any of you gentoo guru's had any thoughts on what i could try ?
Laptop Specs are :
Intel T4500 2.3ghz 800mhz FSB
4 GB DDR3
Intel GMA 4500M
I don't think the OS makes a difference at this stage but it is Windows 7 Ultimate 64
Help me please!!

SystemRescueCd was my next choice but i ran out of time and cd's at 1am

Ahhh right..
Well i've just booted the system rescue cd 64bit with framebuffer and interestingly its booted "Gentoo Linux x86_64"
So time to get cracking with my gentoo installation, but the question still remains...
What was on the minimal cd that wouldnt allow it to load on this laptop.... ? hmmm |
