I installed gentoo just now and upon the first reboot of my system a
problem came up. It says this on the screen:

Gentoo Linux ; http://www.gentoo.org
Copyright 2001 Gentoo Technologies ; GPL

* Mounting /proc
hub.c : USB new device connect on bus 1/1, assigned device number 2

* Starting devfsd...
hub.c : USB hub found
hub.c : 4 ports detected

At this point it just hangs until I have to hit the power button.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Pat

Really tough call here. Did you forget to put DevFS support in the kernel?

Could also be the USB device you got on there locking up the system, try pulling it.

I'm sure I added devfs support. That was the one under File Systems, right about the /dev/pts (the one I had to uncheck). My usb device is my keyboard, when I get home I'll try a different keyboard and see what happens.

Thanks,
Pat

Just a follow up...

I put in a different keyboard and it ended up working fine. Now I just need to figure out how to get MY keyboard to work :)

Thanks,
Pat
