Cotton wool in one's mouth does not an actor make.

Nor does it chili pepper in the ass.

Can't say I know of an actor who used that. Perhaps Jim Carrey? His acting is like he has something fizzing in his rectum.

Yeah, if he had it he lost it. Sometimes I think that the last movie he attempted to act in was Carlitos Way. Rest was just faking it, sort of like consultants.

Carlito's Way was good, but IMO, paled in comparison to Donnie Brasco. After that, a string of less interesting roles (including City Hall, preceding Brasco). Insomnia wasn't bad, but it wasn't really good either. Then back to movies without much to draw interest. I haven't even heard of a lot of the more recent movies he's done...

Stand Up Guys, The Son of No One, Righteous Kill, Two For the Money. And Ocean's Thirteen? That had to be owing someone a favor, or needing some rent money.

Nicolas Cage was to play Superman in a Tim Burton movie. Now, that is a movie I'd loved to see. I like Tim Burton's movies.

Cage, Burton & Batman. But even the latter two wouldn't likely top Keaton.

That's why Superman would've been a brilliant idea.

Some of Cage's finest work.

Actually he can be great in the right role. Just keep him away from bees.

Don't break the theme, you're supposed to say something ironic.

Some of the most unintentionally funny acting ever.

To be fair, he was good in Lord of War.

Not as good as Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.

I reiterate, Nicolas Cage is a great actor.

Watch

1, Matchstick Men.
2, The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call
3, Bringing Out the dead
4, Family Man
5, Lord of war
6, Raising Arizona
7, Vampire's Kiss.

Unless you've watched at-least 7 of these movies, you're not qualified to comment on Nicolas Cage. Thank you very much.

I've seen a lot of his movies, but only two on your list.

In chronological order :

The Socerer's Apprentice
National Treasure: Book of Secrets
Grindhouse
Ghost Rider
The Weather Man
Lord of War
National Treasure
Matchstick Men
Adaptation
Windtalkers
Captain Corelli's Mandolin
Gone in Sixty Seconds
8MM
Snake Eyes
City of Angels
Face/Off
Con Air
The Rock
Leaving Las Vegas
Fire Birds
Moonstruck

I don't remember seeing anything prior to Moonstruck, but I could have sworn I was a fan of his work by the time Fire Birds was released. I can't think of what it was I would have seen. I'm pretty sure I watched both Moonstruck & Fire Birds after they were out on video. Strange.

Of that list (and non-action movies), Leaving Las Vegas and City of Angels are probably my favorites. I guess Lord of War wasn't really an action movie, so it too.
