The postal2 in portage (full version) is not this new version. This version is multiplayer only (and free!). Requesting it be put into portage.

New Alien Arena tonight :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://red.planetarena.org

Actually, it's available now, just not announced anywhere other than there yet. (news will be sent out this evening)

7.10 features seven reworked/new maps, improved lighting, performance, and map voting system. There are a host of bugfixes, included the dreaded stack smashing errors that Ubuntu users encountered on some maps.

Changelog is at http://icculus.org/alienarena/changelogs/7.10.txt

They've released a new version? Is the world coming to an end or something?

COR Entertainment announces the latest release of it's freeware, open sourced FPS shooter, Alien Arena 2008!

Version 7.20 features a host of improvements, optimizations, and new features such as the implementation of per-pixel GLSL effects including parallax, normal and specular mapping/highliting, occulusion culling of entities, shader performance boosts, new and improved weapon/event effects, and much more. The end result is a game that not only looks great, but also runs considerably faster than previous releases.

On the gameplay aspect, a brand new reward system has been implemented, allowing players to choose from three powerups when reaching a certain achievement total. Weapons have received further balancing, powerup effects made more smooth, and various bugs have been squashed. Several brand new levels have been added, as well as player skins that improve visibility and an HUD based weapon inventory.

Available for linux: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode Two

The second penny arcade game is out for 15$. There is a free demo, so you can see how it runs on your system before you buy it.

Main Game site:
http://www.playgreenhouse.com/game/HOTHG-000001-02/

The first release update (-r2) fixed any problems I saw with the game. But if you have one, they probably will fix it (they released 3 updates to the first episode).

OpenLieroX 0.58 beta3

OpenLieroX is a widespread Liero clone - kind of realtime, excessive Worms.

The Dark Mod for Doom 3 has a demo release :D

It needs to write to /dev/shm, surprisingly (Doom 3 itself doesn't need /dev/shm), so put in /etc/fstab e.g.:

Code:
/dev/shm  /dev/shm  tmpfs  size=256m  0  0

Then run:
Code:
mount /dev/shm

I made an ebuild for GLFrontier, a reverse-engineered version of Frontier: Elite II with OpenGL support.
Hope you enjoy it :)

The Linux client for Dark Salvation is on it's way.

It's a Quake 3 based action/horror game. It appears to have a single player campaign like Painkiller.
