I have IR usb (so, this is usb, but it is infra-red receiver (and hopefully transmiter))
I got IR usb to get pictures from my phone (no bluetooth, just IR)

If I understand correctly I need irda, not lirc
(which is for remote controlling, like TV, if I understood correctly)

On that matter, what is best IR app on gentoo?
If you have some for me, than problem below is obsolete, kheh...

Anyway, I went with irda, I configured kernel, copied it to /boot restart.

At this point I did this:
Code:
emerge -a irda-utils

which had to emerge 2 apps. OK.
But on actual idra emerging, I got error,
looked ta it and it requires some file in non existing folder.

So I searched net, and found this:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/317539

At the end is a solution, of a kind.

I opened file /usr/src/linux/Makefile
but I could not find the line that is supposed to be replaced...

I would appreciate help on this, since I am newbie,
or if you could suggest some simple/good application for IF, preferably with gui.

Thank you.

The Makefile you need to patch is located in the irda distribution, so you cannot install it with emerge - you need to manually compile and install it while this bug exists. Once you have unpacked the irda files and run ./configure, look in the "tekram" folder and edit the Makefile in there according to the bug. Then you can 'make' and 'make install'.

If this works please add a comment to the bug so that it's obvious it's still current!
