I'm new to gentoo, so my problem may seem to be silly...
But I really need your help, or some suggestiong. Thx

I have install minimum gentoo correctly.
Now I want to install xorg-server (according the guide: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/zh_cn/xorg-config.xml)
after run X -config /root/xorg.con.new,
I can see a picture (about NVIDIA corporation logo)
then system go to black
Use Ctrl+Alt+F1 , close X
find some information and a logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log

My video card: NVIDIA NVS 3100M
(I emerged nvidia-drivers; and also run the linux driver from nvidia site: NVIDIA-Linux-x86-256.44.run)

If any other information needed, I will post it too

Wait for you reply, thank you

Black screen is what you get when Xorg is running and nothing is started on top of it. You should start a WM or DE to see more than black screen.

Have you seen the Gentoo Linux nVidia Guide? If not, follow that and, if you have any questions, please post back.

Also, X by itself isn't useful. To prove that it's minimally working, you could emerge xorg-x11, which includes a tiny little window manager called twm. After installing that, starting X won't give you a blank screen. Alternatively, you can install one of the many desktop environments described in the Gentoo Desktop Documentation Resources section of the Gentoo Documentation Resources page, which you'll have to do eventually, anyway.

I read that article, but have not tried yet

I thought xorg-server contained twm-like things.

Now, I try to install GNOME first, if failed again, I will try Gentoo Linux nVidia Guide then (because now , I think it may not be the problem of video drivers).

Dear Jaglover,John:

Last night i tried to emerge gnome, it's much too long than i thought...
Finally, I changed to emerge gnome-light, now I can enter X now, and haven't encounter any fault yet.

Thank you both for your suggestion and induction:)
