Wine recently updated to version 1.3, it was in my -DuvaN world. For those of you who might have had issues with some games in wine, you might as well give them another try with this newer version. Quite a few bug fixes and new features are included. _________________ "You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think" ~ Dorothy Parker

This is an awesome bug report, didn't know Dungeon Keeper 2 was abandonware. I was going to hold off on wine 1.3 in case the new dev branch broke things, but actually I noticed wine 1.2 final has a gfx glitch in Civ 4 for me so I might upgrade anyway. |

Coming a bit late but Civ 4 does not work with wine 1.3, loading breaks of at very early stage with not much errors, (can't check since i downgraded back to 1.2). Definetly a regression , since Civ 4 ,Bts 3.19 and mods have been working great for ages.
Here's one report http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23901 _________________ http://xkcd.com/456/ |

Oh, BTS still starts for me, but zooming out to a globe view only shows background stars and cities, and no actual terrain. |

I actually thought wine-1.3 was great until i did a fresh install. It breaks the installer for TES4 Oblivion. If i revert to wine-1.1.39, which i had to add patch for sound to work, install from there, then upgrade back to 1.3, everything is fine.

when wine more problematic than useful. |
Outside of aboved mentioned install issue, TES4 works great, all you have to do is disable the debug messages and you can't even notice that its running through wine. Gameplay is smooth, graphics are great, joystick works fine. |

Why would you use a joystick for a game with FPS mechanics? _________________ "You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think" ~ Dorothy Parker

Well actually i use xbox controller most of time, never could get hang of keyboard and mouse, probably has to do with using controllers since i was little. Had all the console systems. I did try a couple of other sticks/controllers with wine, all seemed fine which was my point in mentioning it. |

Ahh, I see.
Still, you might want to learn keyboard & mouse, it is superior for FPS & RTS games. I also started with controllers (Pong in the 70s, then Space Invaders, Atari, etc) and when first switching to keyboard it seemed odd for gaming, but after a bit of time I vastly prefer it for it's accuracy and button options (104 > 10). _________________ "You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think" ~ Dorothy Parker
