Hi, i never try this but i think you have to build a complete toolchain on your x86-machine, this can be do via dan-kegel toolchain scripts, you can found on http://www.kegel.com/crosstool after build successfully a complete toolchain, you can use distccd to compile package, for my mind it's the only way to cross.build you sparc system.

Keep in mind when you are configuring cross-tools, you must use the exactly version of cross-tools like real tools

For example, if you have in live cd for sparc binutils-2.14 you must use the same version o cross-tools, the same thing with gcc and glibc

I hope the my message is clear, i'm not english

Bye and good luck

JFYI, I am currently working on a cross compiler suite which lets you create binary packages for sparc on a x86 sytem via portage :) If all goes fine I have something working by the end of the week :)

Right now its nothing stable. I had to hack gcc-config and broke the normal gcc ;)

I'll have to put some more time into this and look a bit more at the portage build process...
