well, i was just doing the regular `emerge -uD world' and when it came to xmms it failed to apply the patch for the Dynamic Taste Detection (xmms-1.2.8-dtd.patch).

has anybody else come across this problem too?

bug is submitted (#28607).
i hope the dev's find the error when they have the time to have a look at it. i tried doing some editing, etc. but had no luck :/

cheers

Crap. Here I was rebuilding all my XML and DTD libs thinking the dtd errors I were seeing were related to Document Type Definition and not getting anywere. Guess I should pay a little more attention to the error messages.

The bug was a dup of this one https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28587

Anyway, they state it is fixed now. You can download the correct patch or wait for it to show up in your favorite rsync mirror.
