Hello,
I set
Code:
conf_type : repos.conf
in the /etc/layman/layman.cfg, and the Wiki page of Layman says "Layman will create its configuration file in /etc/portage/repos.conf/ directory".
But actually I have to edit repos.conf manually when syncing the overlays using "emerge --sync".
What's more, "layman -S" run successfully even with an empty repos.conf.

Hum, I am now confused.....So there is no relationship between layman and repos.conf? But why we set the conf_type variable?

Does https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Portage/Sync#Layman_configuration help?

Well, first off, layman does not use the repos.conf file for itself, that is only for portage the package manager. Layman has it's own way of tracking the overlays it installs and controls.

Please use the link in the previous post. We spent a lot of time trying to make everything clear and concise. It sounds like you have repos.conf as a file. If that is the case, then layman will not write anything in it. You will need to make repos.conf a directory, with a gentoo.conf file for your gentoo repo. Then layman will create it's own file there, and update it.

You can use the layman-updater utility to make the repos.conf/layman.conf file when you have your repos.conf fixed correctly.
