I'm using KDE cvs and the latest packages for CUPS and gimp-print but I can't get KDE to play nicely with my printer.
Here's what's happening. The KDE print manager is very nice and gets me through interfacing with CUPS to add a printer and select the right driver and everything (or at least I think so): Epson Color 880, Foomatic + gimp-print. The test page prints perfectly! And I can 'cat' stuff to /dev/lp0 with no problem.
The problem comes when I try to print using anything within KDE like koffice or even kate. The output is just really really messed up with totally unreadable/weird fonts. Another issue is that even after just re-emerging a brand new ghostscript, I still can not get print preview to work ?
Anyone else have this problem ?
On a side note, does printing in linux usually tax your CPU hard? |
