Did you try moving the config files? _________________ Workstation: 5.1 SurroundSound, LIRC remote control; Laptop [IBM-T43]: patched sources, s2disk/ram, fingerprint sensor |

Thnq guys, I decided to give up all KDE stuff and turn to only GTK dependent apps, as I use Xfce. Changing topic to CLOSED, NOT SOLVED |

Amarok issue is a current svn problem for sure. _________________ Workstation: 5.1 SurroundSound, LIRC remote control; Laptop [IBM-T43]: patched sources, s2disk/ram, fingerprint sensor |

Yeah, I don't think reporting svn bugs to gentoo forums is ever going to be useful; As the svn version of amarok could change by the time someone decided to help with it.
I hope you didn't give up on qt because of this. Of course, that is your choice.

Yes, furthermore, why don't you ask the amarok devs? Why don't you attach a backtrace? Or why not just use the stable version? You can't expect an svn alpha to work all the time properly.
By the way I'm having the same problem _________________ Workstation: 5.1 SurroundSound, LIRC remote control; Laptop [IBM-T43]: patched sources, s2disk/ram, fingerprint sensor |

If it is the problem that I'm thinking of...your basically SOL. Noone has been able to track it down. It has been a problem reported for the last three years. It is seemingly random, and not every hardware can reproduce it. It occurs sparsely but on a range of major distributions. My guess is that a new version of amarok won't help you.
The last suggestion i read was "enable the applet that lets you see what keys are down" and "change around your xorg input configuration" _________________ emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "moo" |

I had "the same problem", due to the fact that I had the "embedded" USE for MySQL and not for Amarok.
So I just added the "embedded" USE to amarok too, and that fixed it.
to fix the problem, having "-kde", I need :
Code: |
% cat /etc/portage/package.use
x11-libs/qt-qt3support kde
x11-libs/qt-webkit kde
|
My exact problem was :
Code: |
unnamed app(14922): Communication problem with "amarok" , it probably crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown" : " "The name org.kde.amarok was not provided by any .service files" "
KCrash: Application 'amarok' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start from kdeinit
sock_file=/home/mansuetus/.kde4/socket-killian/kdeinit4__0
KCrash: Attempting to start directly
KCrash failed to exec(), errno = 2
