Hi all!
I'd like to announce the availability of 'Csound-Wii'-overlay. As the name suggests, the overlay contains mainly csound (http://www.csounds.com/) and Nintendo WiiMote-related ebuilds. (...although I have a feeling that it will 'bloat' somewhat in the near future )
Currently available are:
- csound and its qt4 frontend qutecsound
- cwiid, libwiimote and wiiuse libraries
- wiiosc, wiican and wiipresent
- some other minor programs
- supercollider 3.4 (http://supercollider.sourceforge.net/) is also on its way...
See for yourself what is there: http://diesel.punk.dy.fi/viewgit/, or use the following instructions to install with layman:
Code: | 1) Please add the following URL
---
http://diesel.punk.dy.fi/csound-wii-overlay.xml
---
to /etc/layman/layman.cfg (onto the 'overlays:'-section)
2) Run 'layman --fetch'
3) Run 'layman --add csound-wii'
|
If you have something to ask, please contact me either here, via email or via Freenode's #gentoo irc-channel (I'll be there with the name 'cyberpunkrocker') _________________ "Trust me, I know what I'm doing!"

Well, I should probably notify about some current glitches:
- csound ebuild is a work-in-progress, so not everything is working properly: 'vst' and 'mp3' use-flags are broken, so please do not even try them; 'loris' and 'stk' use-flags aren't working properly, but at least they don't break anything .
- wiipresent does not compile; I haven't had time to figure out why. _________________ "Trust me, I know what I'm doing!"

Ok, time for some updates; First, the list of packages currently in 'csound-wii'-overlay:
app-emulation/z81-2.1 (Sinclair ZX81 emulator)
app-misc/wiican-0.2.1 (Wiimote configuration and management assistant)
app-misc/wiipresent-0.7.5.2 (Wiimote presentations)
dev-python/PythonQt-2.0.1
media-libs/cwiid-9999
media-libs/libwiimote-0.4
media-libs/loris-1.7
media-libs/wiiuse-0.12
media-sound/cecilia-2.0.5 (Tcl/Tk frontend for csound)
media-sound/csound-5.12.1
media-sound/freerec-0.0.1
media-sound/minitunes-0.1.1 (Qt4-based music player with unique interface)
media-sound/mpadec-9999
media-sound/qutecsound-0.6.0 (Qt4 frontend for csound)
media-sound/wiiosc-0.4 (Wiimote > OSC converter)
x11-plugins/alltraxclock-2.0.2 (Transparent analog clock for gkrellm2)
Some notes on the programs above:
- Wiipresent and libwiimote are BROKEN with bluez-4*, don't waste your time on them. (That's why they are masked.)
- Cecilia does not work, I don't know whether it needs older tcl/tk (<8.5), or older csound (4.*), or something else. Anyway, it's an old and unmaintained program, so it doesn't really matter.
- Csound with Loris opcodes finally works, as does mp3; still need to work on vst, p5_glove and stk support. The latter seems to need huge amount of patches to compile on Gentoo; I probably need to backport those for csound.
- My minitunes ebuild found its way to Gentoo's 'multimedia-overlay' .
- Alltraxclock is the best-looking clock ever for gkrellm2 . Unfortunately, the upstream is dead, so I'm hosting the sources myself. _________________ "Trust me, I know what I'm doing!"

Added a stk-4.4.2 ebuild (the one in portage is an antique 4.3.1)
Csound-5.12.1-r3 should compile with stk Opcodes now, although it still uses the idiotic copy-sources-to-csound-tree build system. I'm gonna fix it, some day... . _________________ "Trust me, I know what I'm doing!"

Yay! Everything else is working in csound, except vst support ('vst' and 'vst-host' use-flags). There's something totally broken in the build system; part of the system wants the vst SDK in Frontends/CsoundVST/, the other part in Frontends/CsoundVST/vstsdk2.4/ . Oh well, I have to look into it some day... But not now; Next, I'm trying to make a working ebuild of supercollider-3.4 . _________________ "Trust me, I know what I'm doing!"

Hello,
Why don't you use pro-audio overlay for your audio applications ?
And ask the maintainer to bump the latest versions of your favorite tools ? _________________ Kind regards,

Pro-audio overlay is a horrible mess... Besides, its much more fun to maintain your own overlay !

Me and others did a long time ago; nothing happened (I suppose you are referring to stk) _________________ "Trust me, I know what I'm doing!"

There are now some activity. People ask, ebuilds are done.
This overlay is maybe not the best, but it is pro-audio related, and there are some volunteers that try to keep it alive. _________________ Kind regards,

Are there plans to include wii (homebrew) software like wbfs-manager, wiicr, wiiloadgui and so on? Or do you know an overlay containing such things? |

I'm closing down my local git server (hardware problems). The overlay will continue to exist at Gitorious:
