|

I always use vim + echo to edit this file, until today I read an article by a poor guy who carelessly flushed this package.use by echo "balabala...">/etc/portage/package.use .... Is there any small tool to manipulate this file, safely and conveniently? Thanks. |

Sounds like the poor guy made a mistake similar to using "rm -rf /". With power comes responsibility. Certainly all he would have to do is copy his package.use file from his backups to resolve the situation. _________________ Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. |

Or use the package.use directory feature like package.keywords for kde4. |

My favorite is ufed.
Code: | zippy power.d # eix ufed
[I] app-portage/ufed
Available versions: 0.40-r6 0.40-r10 ~0.40-r11 0.40.1
Installed versions: 0.40.1(08:18:07 AM 02/10/2010)
Homepage: http://www.gentoo.org/
Description: Gentoo Linux USE flags editor
|
EDIT: My apologies. It finally sank in that you were asking about package.use. It doesn't look like ufed takes package.use settings into account, although it is great for working with the use flages in make.conf. _________________ jfp |
