Alternatives to rsync and CVS for portage-tree

Ok. I'm behind a corporate firewall which doesn't allow not CVS nor RSYNC.
I managed to install gentoo using the portage-tree snapshot at the FTP but..

I suppose it would be a good idea to allow easier ways to sync the portage tree...
