Hi all,
I am coming back to the gentoo forums after a long time (almost 4yrs) and have kind of lost touch with the distro after:
1) the gentoo docs expired (in 2007 i think)
2) my never-ending problems with amd64 machines -> https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-482731-postdays-0-postorder-asc-start-0.html
But i feel a new found energy to feel the power of gentoo on my pc again. So if someone could just briefly and quickly guide me to the right place where i can get instructions to install gentoo on my new dell laptop, i would be greatly obliged. I am currently facing a Windows 7 screen on a dell 1558 studio laptop (and i am already beginning to hate its slow boot times and wannabe compiz themes) and a few other things on the config are as follows:
- intel Core i5 540M
- Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5470
- unpartitioned HDD
- IDT sound (not sure about its hardware) |

Let's start with the Gentoo Handbook for AMD64 architecture. _________________ Please add "[solved]" to the initial topic title when it is solved. |

Yeah, a lot of changes since 2007, the AMD64 arch is pretty stable since 2008 |
