I have a scsi hd with my boot and root on it, and a ide hd (as primary master) with other partitions (tmp, var, opt, home) on it.
I'm a bit confused configuring grub. The grub manual states that grub doesn't care about scsi/ide when it counts hard drives, but it doesn't really say which comes first.
My guess is that the ide drive is (hd0) and the scsi drive is (hd1) since that's the order that the bios finds them, but it's only a guess. Anyone have any more concrete information? _________________ "and if rain brings winds of change, let it rain on us forever..." |

Quoth the GRUB manual:
Quote: | Normally, any IDE drive number is less than any SCSI drive number, although that is not true if you change the boot sequence by swapping IDE and SCSI drives in your BIOS. |
If you're not sure, GRUB's find command might be able to help you. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
