Estoy instalano Gentoo
y cuando llego al paso de emerge recibo el siguiente error:

ayuda?

Pues parece un problema de DNS (tampoco estoy seguro), ¿has probado a hacer ping a rsync.gentoo.org? Como sugerencia decirte que podrías editar el /etc/resolv.conf y emplear otros nameserver's
Otra sugerencia: edita tu /etc/make.conf y dirigete a estas líneas:
| Code: | # SYNC is the server used by rsync to retrieve a localized rsync mirror
# rotation. This allows you to select servers that are geographically
# close to you, yet still distribute the load over a number of servers.
# Please do not single out specific rsync mirrors. Doing so places undue
# stress on particular mirrors. Instead you may use one of the following

# North America: "rsync://rsync.namerica.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage"

Descomenta esa variable, SYNC, y utiliza por ejemplo alguno de esos mirrors que tienes ahí comentados (vamos, digo yo que si es problema del servidor que has utilizado, alguno de estos te deberá ir :\)

Hmmm... parece un problema con la resolucion de nombres.
Revisa con:

cat /etc/resolv.conf
|
que tengas bien puestos los servidores de nombres.
Si tienes dudas haz ping a www.google.com u otra maquina y revisa si te resuelve bien.
rsync error : error in soket IO (code 10 at clientserver.c (83) ---> Suena a error en tu cliente de rsync es decir q no resuelves bien las dns.

Problema resuelto,
Funciono el

y tambien cheque lo de los mirros pero no fue necesario cambiarlos
