kde-base/kdm-4.9.5 was built with the following:
USE="(consolekit) handbook (multilib) pam (policykit) (-aqua) -debug -kerberos"

here is my kdmrc: http://bpaste.net/show/70422/

note this is a multiseat setup.

I'd appreciate the help on this matter as I don't know where to start.

I would check the script files in /usr/share/config/kdm.

You could put an echo command in the the scripts to see if you can figure out where it stops? That is what I would do.

If you supect something wrong with the scripts or kdmrc file you can rebuild all the files to default in /usr/share/config/kdm by using genkdmconf use the help option to get a list of options.
Code:
genkdmconf --help

If you do a
Code:
genkdmconf --no-old

it will rebuild all the files and make a backup of the old, so safe to do.

There is some good documentation on KDM in the KDE Help Center under [Control Center Modules --> Login Screen].

ok, reverting to default kdmrc didn't fixed the issue, I think there is something in X that might cause this.

the scripts mentioned above are executed after kdm is up and that is too late, any other ideas?

tried downgrading X, kdm, no go, still an issue.

here is what I've emerged in the last three weeks: http://bpaste.net/show/71866/

I did noticed that if I restart the kdm, it doesn't hangs.

I'd appreciate any input.
