Ok, so I found that ati-drivers-2.9.12 have some problems running some games like enemy-territory as you can see from this id software page:
http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/et/
The solution to the problem is making my sistem have some fps issues. So I was wondering how can I install the newest ati-driver that is found here:
http://www.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/media-video/ati-drivers/
Also, I was wondering why emerge would not install those other drivers.. Is it because they are in a testing stage? I just migrated from redhat9 and well, I had the latest drivers and they did run better. So, what should I do? should I install them manually or does emerge will do the trick? Are people having problem with them? or what? I'm so confused...
Thanks,

the reason it wont install the newer ones is because they are masked.
to install newer drivers type
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge ati-drivers
hope this helps
