Hi
The emerge seemed go ok. I entered into truecrypt and tried to create a volume on a usb memory stick. Each time I get to 'volume format' this runs through to 100% then I get the following error message:
'device-mapper: reload ioctl failed: Invalid argument Command failed'
This seems to be a common problem, I have read a lot on this but have still been unable to get past this error message.
Has anyone out there managed to get truecrypt working on gentoo!

try this http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/TrueCrypt, especially three things:
1) install sudo, add group, add user to group, visudo all like in tutorial
2) try ONE of this:
- in gui->pref->system integration-> do not use kernel crypto
- "truecrypt -m=nokernelcrypto volume mountpoint"
- compile new kernel with the crypto api seen in the tutorial

Thanks for your input on this but I had to give up on truecrypt in the end as my need for file encryption was urgent. I have managed to get encfs working ok. I will have a look at this again in the future.
