Hi gang,

I've put together a little Gentoo usage statistics tool (and server) you might want to check out.

You can view the statistics at http://gentoo.iq-computing.de/stats.jsp

The client tool is located at http://gentoo.iq-computing.de/gentoo-stats.tar.bz2

The client is written in Perl and gathers data about installed packages and CPU power (only the first CPU at this time). It then transmits the data to the server and simply exits.

I'm planning on extending the client to include all the CPUs the user has, as well as any additional data you might come up with :) Also I'm planning to include flags so the user can decide what data is to be transmitted and what data is not.

(A note about gentoo.iq-computing.de and resolving that host: I did some mistake when updating my named zone, so you might get the error that gentoo.iq-computing.de cannot be resolved. I've fixed that now. If you are getting that error message, you could put 62.75.136.113 for gentoo.iq-computing.de into your /etc/hosts file, and all should be fine. Sorry about the inconvenience.)
